Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose Cognitive Hypnotherapy?Cognitive Hypnotherapy does not treat labels — it works with you as an individual. Two people can share the same symptoms and need completely different approaches. Instead of applying a fixed script, we identify the specific pattern driving your experience and tailor the work accordingly.
Cognitive hypnotherapy is unique in its practical nature - instead of engaging in an endless analysis of your past and childhood, together we find only what’s relevant and tinker with it until we find what will get you to your goal. We define where you are now, where you want to be, and we work strategically to close that gap.
How does hypnosis work in a session? Many of the difficulties people struggle with operate like automatic mental loops. Over time, those loops become absorbed and unquestioned, as if the mind has “locked onto” a particular way of responding.
In a session, hypnosis is used to create a focused state of attention that allows us to step outside that automatic pattern. From there, we can examine and update the way it is constructed.
In that sense, the work is often about de-hypnotising you from an unhelpful pattern, rather than putting you under something new. You remain aware and in control throughout.
Will I lose control while hypnotised? No. Hypnosis is nothing more than focused attention. Often we call hypnosis a trance, and for a good reason.
You enter trance states every day when you are absorbed in a book, driving on autopilot, or lost in thought.
In a session, you remain aware and able to speak, move, or stop at any time. You cannot be made to do anything against your will. Therapy works through cooperation, not surrender.
How long will the therapy be?Cognitive Hypnotherapy is solution-oriented. It is not designed to last indefinitely. The length of therapy depends on the complexity of the issue and how clearly defined the outcome is.
Some clients notice significant shifts within a few sessions; others require a longer process. We regularly review progress to ensure the work remains purposeful and effective.
How do I know you’re the right therapist for me?Choosing a therapist is a very personal decision. You should feel comfortable, taken seriously, and able to speak freely without feeling judged or analysed. Feeling safe enough to be honest is more important than any technique or qualification.
The simplest way to know if it feels right is to talk. After an initial conversation, notice how you feel. Do you feel understood? Do you feel calmer, clearer, or more hopeful about the process? That response matters.
When the relationship feels steady, real work becomes possible. Cognitive Hypnotherapy is designed to strengthen your sense of agency, not replace it. I’m not here to “fix” you — I’m here to help you see and use the resources you already have. The goal is for you to leave with more trust in your own capacity than when you arrived.
How much does it cost and how do I pay?The cost of a session is £90.
Payment is due in full before the session and can be made through the online scheduling system at the time of booking at this link.
